Monastrell 2022
Vineyard: Stone Tree Vineyard, Wahluke Slope AVA
Vineyard Manager: Tedd Wildman
Blend: 100% Monastrell
Vinification: Monastrell grapes were fermented in small open-top stainless steel tanks with 15% whole clusters to enhance aromatics. The fermentation was hand mixed 2 times per day. After 9 days the wine was removed from the skins and pressed to oak barrels where it completed primary and malolactic fermentation.
Cooperage: 16 months in French oak
Bottled: February 202
Production: 90 cases
Winemaker Notes: This is a red grape with origins from Spain and is known as Mourvèdre in France. This grape loves the climate of Eastern Washington and does well in warmer sites. This wine displays vibrant layers of pomegranate, cinnamon, blueberry and pizzelle cookies. The palate is medium bodied with secondary flavors of red currant and ripe raspberry and a touch of cocoa nibs. The finish is elegant, with velvety tannins. Pairs well with roasted meats, soft cheeses, or a rich chocolate dessert.
